Mathematics Tuition - FAQs

Here is some practical information regarding our tuition services.

We are excited to offer mathematics tuition to support your child's learning. Here is some practical information regarding the services offered.

(a)  One-to-one tuition sessions are held in the comfort of your own home.

(b) Small group tutoring sessions are held at a mutually convenient venue.

Q2. How long are maths tuition sessions?

Typically, for many students, lessons are 60 minutes long, but these sessions can be adjusted to suit your child's needs. For older students (Years 10 & 11), longer classes of either 90 or 120 minutes may be appropriate.

Q3. During the year, when do tuition sessions take place?

Tuition is offered throughout the NZ academic year, depending on your child's age and requirements:

  • For students in Y6 to 10 - tuition runs from the end of February to December (one week before the summer vacation)
  • For NCEA Level 1 students -  sessions run from the end of February to November, finishing just before the NCEA exam.
  • For NCEA Numeracy students - tuition starts at the end of February and runs until the respective examinations, in May and November.

We offer flexible scheduling to fit around your family's busy life. Sessions are usually held after school, between 3 pm and 7pm, on Monday to Friday. Weekend sessions maybe available if needed.

For any tuition venue that requires travelling a distance of more than 20km (one way), there is a travel fee to cover the cost of petrol.

Q13. Can I cancel lessons, if something comes up?

We understand that there are extreme circumstances when lesson cancellations are occasionally unavoidable. At the same time, we rely on a fixed schedule in order to balance commitments with other clients. Please refer to the Tuition Fees & Policies page for full details.
